At the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula lies Pula.

Most noted for its mild and humid climate, people have lived here for over a million years. It is also best known for its many ancient Roman buildings, most famously the Pula Arena, an imposing limestone amphitheatre facing the sea, today commonly used for concerts, operas, ballets, sports competitions and the Pula film festival.

A pre-dawn dip in the Adriatic, we headed to town with Sue and Liz who set a blistering pace on their hired e-bikes. Some navigational errors on my part found us all hot and on the wrong side of town.

A stinking hot day to be out with the tourist throng, the heat won out so after lunch, it was back to camp for Sue and I for another dip in the sea. Liz and Sam found a lovely café to dine out on some local Istrian delights.
