I had planned to spend 4 days cycling in the Vosges mountains in the west of the Alsace region. Unfortunately, I’m too sick to go long distance cycling, and only manage a few outings wandering the laneways of the old parts of Strasbourg and Colmar. Both are famed for their sandstone and timber framed buildings, many medieval in origin.

An unexpected adventure involved a 7 hour stint in Strasbourg hospital. Being a Sunday, I couldn’t find a doctor, and ended up in the emergency ward. Not the smartest thing – lots of tests, some of them repeated for no apparent reason. And, given my condition wasn’t life threatening I kept getting bumped down the queue. Finally got the all clear at @1am in the morning.
