Another perfect day for cycling. Despite lack of sleep, I’m compelled to ride. It’s Sunday, cyclists are everywhere! The roads are designed for bikes – there is either a shared lane or a separate lane. Cars are delightfully respectful.
I find a wonderful slipstream from Geneva for the first hour. We cruise past castles, medieval villages, fields and forest. Every now and then a stunning view opens up across the lake to the high alps. I imagine that I’m looking at Mont Blanc.
After Lausanne, I climb les routes des vignobles, through terraced vineyards established by the Romans thousands of years ago.
A little further on I reach my conference destination at the beautiful former monastery of Crêt-Bérard.
