Rifugio Locatelli is set in one of the most spectacular parts of the Dolomites. Big call given every day has been spectacular!

It is also one of the most popular and easily accessible, meaning – the place was packed!!

Our last night in the mountains. A room with a view!

We thought we landed one of the best rooms in the Rifugio (fab view + nice and close to the stairs and amenities). Turned out otherwise.

Being an old hut in this climate, everything creaked and groaned. The staff quarters were right next door with an electronic security system that gave a loud beep every time someone entered or exited. Which was pretty constant till the early hours of the morning and again before dawn. And with a great folk troupe playing lively and entertaining music, and groups of climbers universally known for hard drinking; the partying that went on till at least 2am. Not a lot of sleep.
